Uno AI vs OpenRouter vs a Claude or ChatGPT plan

Claude Pro or ChatGPT Plus, at $20 a month, gives you the strongest Claude or GPT models, with limits that reset every five hours. OpenRouter gives you 500+ models and bills every token. Uno AI gives your agents a fast and a smart model for a flat monthly price, counted in hours of work, on a computer of their own.

Take a Claude or ChatGPT plan
if you work with the agent yourself a few sessions a week and want the top model.
Take OpenRouter
if you need one particular model, or your use is light and uneven.
Take Uno AI
if agents work for hours, often several at once, and you want to know the bill in advance.
Combine them
Run Claude Code on your own plan on an Uno computer, and give background agents Uno AI.

How each one counts

Over the same working day: a plan stops at its limit until the five-hour window resets; OpenRouter adds to the bill on every call; Uno AI counts working minutes once, however many agents run A working day → A plan Claude, ChatGPT limit used up wait for the reset new five-hour window OpenRouter per token the bill grows with every call Uno AI hours of work two agents, counted once flat price
Illustration, not a measurement. The plan's limits are set by the vendor and change.

How we counted an hour of agent work

Token prices do not tell you what an hour costs, so we counted one. These are our assumptions, not a measurement:

  • A coding agent calls the model 150 times an hour.
  • Each call sends 50,000 tokens of context: 45,000 come from the prompt cache, 5,000 are new.
  • Each call writes 1,000 tokens back, thinking included.
  • That is about 125,000 tokens read and 2,500 written every minute.
  • Prices are OpenRouter's list prices on 16 October 2026, plus the 5.5% fee.
Model on OpenRouterInput, cache read, output per 1M tokensAn hour100 hours
GLM-5.3 Flash$0.15 · $0.03 · $0.50$0.41$41
MiMo-V2.6-Pro$0.435 · $0.0036 · $0.87$0.51$51
Claude Sonnet 5.5$2 · $0.10 · $10$4.27$427
GPT-6.1 Sol$2 · $0.10 · $10$4.27$427
Claude Opus 5.5$4 · $0.20 · $20$8.55$855
Our estimate. New tokens on Claude and GPT are priced as cache writes ($2.50 on Sonnet, $5 on Opus per 1M). One caveat: in our own test in September a fast model made more calls a minute, and its real hour cost about twice this estimate.

A smaller project means less context per call and a cheaper hour; a busier agent costs more. Three agents side by side cost three times the tokens on OpenRouter. On Uno AI they spend the same minutes as one.

What a Claude or ChatGPT plan gives in hours

Neither vendor states its limits in hours. Anthropic writes that usage limits reset on a rolling five-hour window, paid plans add weekly limits, and Claude Code draws from the same pool. For Plus, OpenAI estimates 15 to 160 local messages every five hours on GPT-6.1 Sol in Codex, and weekly limits may also apply. It sums up Plus as: "Power a few focused coding sessions each week."

That fits a person working next to the agent. It does not fit agents that work all day: they reach the limit and wait. On Uno you can keep both: sign in with your own plan for Claude Code or Codex, and give the agents that work the rest of the day Uno AI.

Where Uno is worse

  • The top Claude and GPT models score higher. On the same index Smart has 46 and Claude Opus 5.5 has 58.
  • For light use the price is about the same: 40 hours of GLM-5.3 Flash on OpenRouter come to about $16, the add-on on Small is $15.
  • Small+AI and Plus+AI stop when the hours end. Pay-per-token never stops while you have credit.
  • Two included models, not 500+. Others are billed apart: Claude, GPT, Gemini per token from premium credit ($15 Pro, $25 Max) or a top-up.
  • The models behind Fast and Smart can change. The names above are today's.
