Uno vs Morph

Morph Cloud sells VMs billed in compute units (MCUs) and can snapshot a running VM, memory and processes included, then branch it into copies. Uno gives an agent one computer that sleeps when idle and keeps its memory. A Morph VM the size of Uno Small, running all month, costs $36.50 at the pay-as-you-go rate; Uno Small is $5 flat.

Take Morph if
your agent forks a running VM into many branches, tries each one and keeps the best, or you need machines of up to 256 vCPUs, 1,024 GB of memory and 4,096 GB of storage.
Take Uno if
one agent works on one project for weeks, needs root and Docker, and you want a price that stays put whatever the agent does.

Morph figures from cloud.morph.so and its docs, checked 16 October 2026. Small size is 1 vCPU, 1 GB of memory and 15 GB of disk, which is one MCU an hour; Plus size is 4 vCPU, 4 GB of memory and 40 GB of disk, which is four MCUs an hour. Monthly costs are a calculation, shown under the chart. The snapshot speed is Morph's own claim and our wake time comes from a different measurement, so they are not a side-by-side test.

How we counted

An MCU is billed per hour. A devbox uses the largest of its vCPU count, its memory in 4 GB steps and its disk in 16 GB steps, in MCUs an hour. Uno Small (1 vCPU, 1 GB of memory and 15 GB of disk, which is one MCU an hour) is one MCU an hour: 730 hours × $0.05 = $36.50. Uno Plus (4 vCPU, 4 GB of memory and 40 GB of disk, which is four MCUs an hour) is four times that: $146. The Developer plan costs $40 and includes 1,000 MCUs, so a month of one always-on MCU fits inside it. Morph's pricing page does not say what a paused VM costs, so an idle month may cost less than these totals.

Two ways to keep a machine's state

Both products save memory, not only files. Morph saves it on demand: you ask for a snapshot of a running VM and can start many VMs from it. Uno saves it when the computer falls asleep and wakes the same computer on the first request. Booting a new VM from a snapshot's disk image is a cold boot: no memory and no running processes come back, and an instance start restores them.

Morph: a running VM is snapshotted with memory and disk, and the snapshot starts many branches. Uno: a computer works, sleeps after 10 minutes idle with memory kept, and wakes on the first request Morph VM Running billed in MCUs an hour Snapshot memory, disk and processes Many branches each starts from the snapshot Uno computer Works no session time limit Asleep memory and programs saved Awake on the first request after 10 minutes with nothing to do
Morph's snapshot is a tool you call: one running VM becomes a starting point for many. An Uno computer sleeps by itself and comes back as the same computer.

That is the real difference. Branching suits an agent that tries ten approaches from the same state. A long job in one place, such as a bot, a build or a coding agent that keeps a project open for weeks, needs no branches. It needs a machine that is there when it is called, and a bill that does not count its hours.

Where pay-per-use wins

At $0.05 an MCU, one hour of Uno Small's size costs $0.05, so $5 buys 75 busy hours there. Under that, Morph is cheaper. Past it, the flat plan is. Plus works out the same: $20 against $0.20 an hour.

Where Uno is worse

  • Under 75 busy hours a month, Morph's pay-as-you-go rate is cheaper than $5. The Free plan has no monthly fee.
  • Morph is built to snapshot a running VM on demand and start many copies from it. Uno is built around one computer that sleeps and wakes, not around forking a running one.
  • Morph's Developer plan goes up to 256 vCPUs, 1,024 GB of memory and 4,096 GB of storage, and the Team plan higher. The largest Uno computer is 32 vCPU and 48 GB.
  • Morph lets 32 at once and 128 in total run on Developer. An Uno computer is ready in about 2 seconds and is meant for one agent that stays.
  • Our vCPU are shared, not dedicated, and paid plans run in one region today: Netherlands.
  • Morph quotes under 250 ms to snapshot, branch or restore. Our median wake is 118 ms through the console, measured once in production. The two are not a side-by-side test.
