Uno vs Replit

Replit is an app builder: you describe an app, its Agent writes it in Replit's editor, and you publish it from there. Uno is a Linux computer with root where your own agent, Claude Code or Codex, works and runs what it builds. Replit Core costs $20 a month; Uno Small is $5 and Plus is $20.

Take Replit if
you want to go from a prompt to a published app in one place, with its Agent, editor and hosting already wired together.
Take Uno if
you want a computer you control: any agent, any stack, Docker and root, a bot or a database that stays up, and a price you can read in advance.

How to read this

Replit lists four Reserved VM sizes: 0.5 vCPU and 2 GB of memory at $15, 1 vCPU and 4 GB of memory at $35, 2 vCPU and 8 GB of memory at $50, and 4 vCPU and 16 GB of memory at $130. These pay for a published app, and Core's monthly credits are spent on them first. The Replit bars carry more memory than the Uno bars next to them, so this is a price list for the machine, not a speed test.

A builder, or a computer

Replit starts from the app. You write a prompt, Agent produces a project in the editor, and Publish turns it into a deployment: a snapshot of the files running on Replit's cloud. Uno starts from the machine. You get a Linux computer, and anything that runs on Linux runs on it, including the agents you already pay for.

Replit: you describe an app, Agent builds it in the editor, and Publish runs a snapshot of the files as a deployment. Uno: you open a computer, an agent works in it like on any Linux machine, and the result is a site or an app on your computer Replit Describe a prompt in the editor Agent builds a project in Replit's editor Publish a deployment of the files Uno computer Open a computer Linux, root, Docker Your agent works Claude Code, Codex, others Runs there a site, a bot, a database
Replit packs the whole path into one product. Uno gives you the computer and leaves the choice of agent to you.

The trade is plain. The packed path is faster the first time. The open computer is cheaper the tenth time, when the app needs a Postgres, a queue, a bot and a cron job next to each other.

Where Uno is worse

  • Replit's Agent, editor, preview and hosting are one product. On Uno you choose the agent and connect it yourself. Uno is driven by API and MCP tools.
  • Replit has a free Starter plan with daily Agent credits. Uno's free account covers sites and forms; a computer starts at $5 a month.
  • Replit scales a web app to zero and back by itself with Autoscale. Uno has no per-request billing: you pay for the computer, and it wakes on the first request.
  • Replit publishes an app in one step from its editor. On Uno you or your agent deploy it on your computer.
  • Our vCPU are shared, not dedicated, and paid plans run in one region today: Netherlands.
