What a month costs
Take 1,024 GB of files, the size of Max's storage. Keeping them costs $23.55 a month on S3 and $15.21 on R2, before any request. The gap opens when people download them.
Keeping 1,024 GB for a month
Storage only, in $ per month: no requests, no downloads. R2 takes off its free 10 GB. Uno does not sell storage alone, so it is not on this chart.
Show as a table
| Option | $ per month | Shape |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon S3 Standard | 23.55 | US East (N. Virginia), first 50 TB rate |
| Cloudflare R2 Standard | 15.21 | After the free 10 GB |
Serving 1,024 GB of downloads in a month
Data out to the internet, in $ per month. S3 takes off its free 100 GB.
Show as a table
| Option | $ per month | Shape |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon S3 | 83.16 | $0.09 a GB after the free allowance |
| Cloudflare R2 | 0 | Data out is free |
How we counted
S3: 1,024 × $0.023 = $23.55. R2: (1,024 − 10) × $0.015 = $15.21. Downloads on S3: (1,024 − 100) × $0.09 = $83.16. Data in is free on S3, and R2 does not bill data out. Requests are left out; their prices are in the table above.
Where Uno storage fits
Uno storage is the cloud storage that comes with your computer. Cloud storage comes with a plan and is not sold on its own, so the comparison is not price per gigabyte. It is: what do I get with the computer I am renting anyway? A new bucket is private, and presigned URLs share a file for a limited time. You reach it from Uno Work (Files, Cloud storage), the console, your agent over API and MCP, and presigned links, and the files stay when you delete a computer.
| Free | Small | Plus | Pro | Max | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cloud storage in the plan | 10 GB | 25 GB | 100 GB | 300 GB | 1,024 GB |
| Plan price a month | $0 | $5 | $20 | $70 | $200 |
Moving between S3 and R2 is a copy with another endpoint:
# Amazon S3 $ aws s3 sync s3://my-bucket ./local # Cloudflare R2: your account's endpoint $ aws s3 sync s3://my-bucket ./local --endpoint-url $R2_ENDPOINT
Uno storage is not on this list: S3 access keys for your own tools are not available yet. Files go in and out through Uno Work, the console, your agent, or a presigned link from your code.
Where Uno is worse
- No S3 access keys for your own tools yet, so the AWS CLI, rclone or a backup tool cannot connect to Uno storage. S3 and R2 give you keys today.
- As a bare bucket, Uno costs more. 25 GB on R2 costs $0.23 a month after its free 10 GB, and Small is $5, with a computer inside.
- You cannot buy more storage on its own. To get 300 GB you move up to Pro at $70.
- When the account reaches its plan's storage quota, new uploads are refused with a STORAGE_QUOTA_EXCEEDED error. S3 and R2 keep growing and send a bill.
- S3 has versioning, and AWS has events, replication and many regions around it. Uno's storage docs do not mention bucket versioning or lifecycle rules.
- S3 and R2 publish a durability figure. Uno publishes no durability figure for cloud storage.
- R2 does not bill data out. Uno lists no per-request price and no per-GB price for downloads from storage; the plan sets a storage quota.
- Copies of the computer count toward your cloud storage: a computer with daily copies uses its storage faster than the file count suggests.
