What the bill holds
A Droplet is the server and nothing else. Backups, object storage and a database are separate lines, each with its own price. On Uno one plan holds the computer, cloud storage, sites, forms and AI hours, so the bill has one line.
What an idle server costs
DigitalOcean says it plainly: a Droplet that is powered off is still billed, because its resources stay reserved; only destroying it stops the charge. Most small services are quiet most of the day, and the bill is the same. An Uno computer falls asleep after 10 minutes with nothing to do. It wakes when you open it, a visitor opens your site, a message reaches your bot's webhook.

A boost lifts the computer to the bigger size of its plan for an hour: Plus goes from 4 to 8 vCPU and from 4 to 8 GB.
Where Uno is worse
- DigitalOcean runs 16 datacenters in 13 regions: New York, San Francisco, Atlanta, Richmond, Kansas City, Memphis, Toronto, Amsterdam, London, Frankfurt, Bangalore, Singapore and Sydney. Paid Uno computers run in the Netherlands today.
- DigitalOcean sells Kubernetes, App Platform, managed databases, load balancers, block storage and Spaces. For a managed cluster or a managed database fleet, it is the shelf to shop from.
- Disks are smaller. The Droplet closest to Pro comes with 320 GB of SSD. Pro has 120 GB of disk and 300 GB of cloud storage next to it.
- Spaces gives more storage for its price: 250 GiB of storage and 1 TiB of outbound transfer for $5. Uno's storage is smaller, and it comes with the plan.
- Our vCPU are shared.
- If a program must run every minute of the month with nobody visiting, a plain server is the simpler fit.
