Uno vs Hetzner

Hetzner is cheaper for raw memory: its 4 GB server costs $6.49 a month, and a 4 vCPU / 8 GB server $9.99. Uno costs $4.2–5 per GB against Hetzner's $1.25–1.62, and the difference buys a computer that sleeps with its memory saved, an AI agent that sets it up, cloud storage, sites and AI hours.

Take Hetzner
for a steady service that needs a lot of memory or traffic, when you are happy to run the server yourself over SSH.
Take Uno
when an AI agent should set up and run the computer, it sits idle most of the day, and you want sites, storage and AI under one plan.

After you pay

A Hetzner server arrives empty. You log in, install what you need, close the ports, add a web server and a certificate, then think about where files go. You do it once per server. On Uno you describe the job to an agent, and you watch every command it runs.

Two paths from payment to a running app. On Hetzner you do each step over SSH. On Uno an agent does the steps and you read the log. Both end with a Linux computer you control with root. The difference is who types the commands.

What an idle server costs

Most small services are quiet most of the day. A Hetzner server runs through those hours and the bill is the same. An Uno computer falls asleep after 10 minutes with nothing to do and keeps every program in memory. It wakes when you open it, a visitor opens your site, a message reaches your bot's webhook.

The plan price does not drop while it sleeps. Instead, every hour a computer sleeps earns one boost, up to the monthly cap of your plan. A boost lifts the computer to the bigger size of its plan for an hour: Plus goes from 4 to 8 vCPU and from 4 to 8 GB.

One day on two servers. Hetzner runs the whole day. The Uno computer works in short blocks and sleeps between them with memory kept. Hetzner server Running and billed all day Uno computer Asleep Works Asleep · memory kept Works Asleep · first request wakes it One day. Green marks the time a request or a job is running.
The blocks are an illustration of the idea, not a measurement.

Where Uno is worse

  • Memory costs about three times more per GB. Hetzner's 8 GB server is $9.99 a month. On Uno, 8 GB means a Plus boost (10 a month, one hour each), or Pro with 16 GB for $70.
  • Traffic is smaller: 500 GB a month on Small against 20 TB included at European locations at Hetzner.
  • Hetzner sells plans with dedicated resources. Our vCPU are shared.
  • Hetzner has data centers in Germany, Finland, the USA and Singapore. Paid Uno computers run in the Netherlands today.
  • If a program must run every minute of the month with nobody visiting, a plain server is the simpler fit.

Prices checked 2026-10-01. Budget hosts sell memory cheaper per GB. If all you need is a lot of RAM and nothing else, they are the better deal.
